U.S. Citizens

Passports need to be valid for 6 months after the final day of the program.  Please check the visiting countries for visa requirements.  There are no visas needed for Europe.  If a traveler is unable to obtain these travel documents, our standard cancellation policy will apply.

All children under the age of 18 unaccompanied by a parent or legal guardian traveling abroad must have a notarized letter of permission with a parent’s or legal guardian’s signature.

A La Carte Travel Booking Conditions

These Booking Conditions are valid for all A La Carte Travel departing after October 1, 2015, and are subject to change with or without notice. The most current Booking Conditions at the time of your departure will apply.


All Enrollment Forms must be received at A La Carte Travel 120 days prior to departure. Travelers should provide complete first, middle and last names and dates of birth as they appear (or will appear) on their passports.

Any corrections to match passport names made after 120 days prior to departure require that we change the flight reservation, resulting in a minimum fee of $200 per airline up to the cost of a new published fare ticket. This may also result in a different flight itinerary from the group. Travelers who have not yet applied for a passport should provide their full name and date of birth as they appear on their birth certificate.


 A La Carte Travel handles final rooming assignments for all travelers. Please ensure that all rooming requests are submitted by 110 days prior to departure.

Students will room in double, triples, or quads with others of the same gender from the entire tour group.

Adults are placed in twin accommodations (a hotel room with two beds) with another adult of the same gender from the entire tour group unless the name of a roommate has been provided.

Adults can request double-bed accommodations (a room with one bed for two people)  or a single room for an additional fee per hotel.   Single rooms are not available on overnight trains.

Lost belongings

A La Carte Travel is not responsible for loss of passports, airline tickets or other documents, or for loss of or damage to luggage or any other passenger belongings. In the case of a lost paper airline ticket, the traveler is solely responsible for meeting the airline’s requirements (both logistical and financial) for ticket replacement.

Food Allergies

 A La Carte Travel recognizes that some travelers may have severe food allergies. We will do our best to ensure that our suppliers are informed of the situation but we cannot guarantee that all requests will be accommodated. Travelers are responsible for making their own arrangements for all in-flight meals.

Deposit and Payments

A deposit of $500 is required at the time of registration to hold the space for the passengers.  The remainder of the balance is divided into equal monthly payments with the final payment due no later than 60 days prior to departure.


Excess baggage is subject to extra fees.

Passengers are advised to find out about the fees on the airline’s website.

Travel Insurance

A La Carte Travel automatically insures all the passengers in the Travelex Standard Choice plan.

The Standard Travel Protection Plan covers the following:


  • Emergency Medical and Dental Expenses up to $15,000

  • Emergency Evacuation & Repatriation Expenses of up to $50,000

  • Trip Delay Expenses of up to $1000

  • Lost or Delayed Baggage Expenses of up to $250

  • 24/7 travel assistance and concierge services

A  La  Carte Travel is now offering our groups a more comprehensive Travel Insurance as part of the Travel package and as part of an effort to ease the travelers’ concerns with the events around the world.

The travel protection plan we recommend, Travelex 360° Student Group Choice, includes coverage for Trip Cancellation and Interruption, Trip Delay, Emergency Medical Expense and Evacuation, Baggage Loss or Delay and more. 

 In addition to all of the above benefits, the Choice Plan upgrade will cover the following:

  • Trip Cancellation/interruption benefits include:  Sickness, injury, or death

  •  Pre-existing exclusion waiver through final payment

  • Common carrier cancellations/delays

  • Terrorist acts** (Occurring within 30 days of the scheduled departure date for the covered trip in your departure city or in a city which is a scheduled destination)

  • Trip delay benefits – 5 hours or more

  • Baggage Delay benefits – 12 hours or more

  • Cancel for any reason coverage upgrade


The  Cancel for Any Reason benefit, which allows you to cancel your trip for any reason, within 2 days of your Scheduled Departure Date, and receive up to 75% of the Insured Trip Cost. To be eligible for this benefit, the plan must be purchased within 21 days of your initial trip deposit and full trip cost must be insured. Standard of Conduct


Proper behavior is expected at all times. Remember, you are representing your country. Show respect for language and customs different than your own.


Grounds for Dismissal

  1. Possession, consumption, or distribution of alcohol or illegal drugs

  2. Poor attitude or behavior and consistently acting independently of the chaperones' admonishment and warnings

  3. Leaving the group on excursions, or leaving the hotels without the permission of chaperones and after the designated curfew

  4. Getting a piercing or tattoo

  5. Stealing or defacing any personal property, building or material

  6. Possession or using weapons such as firearms, knives, explosives, etc

  7. Breaking group rules

Detailed Itinerary


Day 1: Wednesday, June 17th, 2020- Depart 

Meet at Trinity Hall and take a private coach bus to the airport. Depart from New York JFK to Paris CDG on an overnight flight. 

  • Depart JFK at 17:40 

  • Arrive CDG at 07:20+1 


Day 2: Thursday, June 18th, 2020- Paris

Arrive in Paris and meet your English-speaking tour escort. Take a private coach bus to your hotel and check-in. Once you have settled in, begin exploring Paris like the natives: on foot and by metro! Metro to the Champs de Mars to see the Eiffel Tower, easily the most recognizable landmark in the world! Afterwards, take the metro to the glamorous Galeries Lafayette department store and go to the top for a panoramic view of Paris. After lunch, walk to the see the Opera Garnier, the magnificent opera house. In the late afternoon, take the metro to the Champs Elysées, the avenue  lined with shops, cafés and street performers. Walk up the avenue and see the Arc de Triomphe. For dinner, enjoy traditional French crepes before returning to your hotel for overnight in Paris. 


Day 3: Friday, June 19th, 2020- Paris

In the morning after breakfast, meet your tour escort and metro to the Louvre, one of the largest museums in the world and home to the Mona Lisa! Enjoy a guided visit of the Louvre to see the great masterpieces throughout history. After lunch, have a perfect picture-taking opportunity in front of the Pyramides at the Louvre before walking down Rue de Rivoli for souvenir shopping. Continue your walk to Île St. Louis and walk beside the historic Notre Dame Cathedral. Spend the later part of the day having afternoon tea and pastries at the famous Ladurée Salon where you can try their famous rose macarons! Have dinner on a Bistro Parisien on the Seine then see the Parisian landmarks lit up during a nighttime cruise on the Seine!  In the evening, return to your hotel for overnight in Paris. 

Day 4: Saturday, June 20th, 2020- Paris

Have breakfast at the hotel then meet your tour escort and metro to the bohemian neighborhood of Montmartre. There, see the Sacre Coeur Basilica and learn about the monument with audio guides. Enjoy the breathtaking view of Paris at the top of the hill by the Sacre Coeur, then walk through the Place du Tertre where artists await to paint your portrait! After lunch, metro to the bustling neighborhood of the Marais. Walk through the streets of the Marais and Place des Vosges. For dinner, savor a delicious and traditional raclette dinner before spending overnight in Paris. 


Day 5: Sunday, June 21st, 2020- Paris-Normandy-Bayeux 

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel then depart with a private coach bus to Normandy. Arrive in Arromanches-les-Bains, the sight of the D-Day landing beaches. Visit the Arromanches 360 Circular Cinema to learn about the Battle of Normandy and other archived footage of the D-Day Landings. Continue the day with a guided visit of the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach that honors American troops who died in Europe during World War II. Afterwards, depart for Bayeux with your private coach bus. Arrive and check-in at the hotel, then go walk beside the Bayeux Cathedral, the national monument that was the original home to the Bayeux Tapestry. In the evening, have dinner and spend overnight in Bayeux. 


Day 6: Monday, June 22nd, 2020- Bayeux-Barcelona

In the morning after breakfast, return to visit the Tapisserie de Bayeux, the embroidered cloth that depicts the events leading up to the conquest of England and dating back to the 11th century! Afterwards, take a private coach bus back to the airport in Paris and take a flight from Paris to Barcelona. Arrive in Barcelona and meet your English-speaking tour escort. Take a private coach bus to the hotel and check-in. In the late afternoon, discover beautiful Barcelona with your tour escort. In the evening, have dinner and spend overnight in Barcelona.

  • Arrive BCN at 17:10 

Day 7: Tuesday, June 23rd, 2020- Barcelona 

Have breakfast at the hotel, then walk through Las Ramblas, the tree-lined pedestrian street, with your tour escort. Have lunch at the large Mercado de la Boqueria before walking to La Pedrera and visiting the modernist building and last private residence of the architect Antoni Guadí. Meet your tour guide and private bus coach the La Pedrera and spend the greater part of the afternoon enjoying a guided visit of the Guadí landmarks in Barcelona including the beautiful Parque Guell and of course, La Sagrada Familia. In the evening, have an open tapas crawl and try delicacies like patatas bravas! Spend overnight in Barcelona. 

Day 8: Wednesday, June 24th, 2020- Barcelona

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then meet your tour escort and explore Barcelona. Take a walking tour of the Gothic Quarter and relax in the morning with shopping and sightseeing. In the afternoon, unwind further with sun and sea at La Barceloneta beach! In the evening, learn the Spanish art of cooking during a cooking class accompanied by dinner. Spend overnight in Barcelona. 


Day 9: Thursday, June 25th, 2020- Barcelona 

Eat breakfast at your hotel to prepare for your morning Flamenco dance class! Learn the beautiful dance as well as the history behind it during your session. After lunch, walk to the Picasso Museum and have an audio guided visit of the museum, dedicated to Pablo Picasso and houses the most extensive collection of artworks by the 20th century artist. For dinner: croquetas de jamón, gambas al ajillo, tortilla Española, among others during your tapas dinner accompanied with a flamenco show! Spend overnight in Barcelona. 


Day 10: Friday, June 26th, 2020- Depart 

After a final breakfast at the hotel, take a private transfer to the airport for your flight home! Upon arrival at JFK, take a private coach bus back to Trinity Hall.
