Trip to Santa Fe

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Friday, May 28th, 2021- Arrive in Santa Fe 

Arrive in Santa Fe on your own and check-in to the hotel. In the evening, there will be a cocktail hour with the group and your escort. 

Day 2: Saturday, May 29th, 2021- Santa Fe & Madrid/Cerrillos 

Welcome to Santa Fe! In the morning, you will have breakfast at the hotel. Then, you will spend the morning in a walking tour of the city where you will explore Santa Fe's art, culture and history. Stop at a local chocolate confectionary for hand-crafted truffles! In the afternoon, head to the former mining towns of Madrid and Cerrillos and stroll through the town for some shopping. In Cerrillos, stop at Casa Grande Trading Post and enjoy lunch at Black Bird Saloon for some Old West atmosphere. 

 

Day 3: Sunday, May 30th, 2021- Chimayo & San Ildefonso 

Eat breakfast at the hotel, have a morning excursion to Chimayo to collect healing earth at El Santurio de Chimayo, followed by a tinwork demonstration and a visit to a local weaving shop. After lunch, enjoy a pueblo pottery demonstration and walking tour of San Ildefonso Pueblo with the host, a former tribal governor. 

 

Day 4: Monday, May 31st, 2021- Abiquiu & Ghost Ranch 

In the morning after breakfast, take a private coach bus for an excursion to Georgia O'Keeffe's home and studio in Abiquiu- the same house that inspired dozens of paintings by the artist. In the afternoon, travel to Ghost Ranch, surrounded by magnificent, multilayered cliff walls, red hills, and mesas. Enjoy a Georgia O'Keeffe Landscape tour while you are there.

Day 5: Tuesday, June 1st, 2021- Santa Fe 

Eat breakfast at the hotel, then take a curated Canyon Road walking tour and delve into art along Santa Fe's inspiring and charming historic arts district. Have lunch on your own and in the afternoon, visit the Georgia O'Keeffe museum, dedicated to the life, art and legacy of the artist. In the late afternoon, enjoy a sparkling wine tasting at Gruet Tasting Room. 

 

Day 6: Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021- Taos 

Eat breakfast at the hotel, then take a private coach bus to Taos, in northern New Mexico’s high desert, bounded by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Visit the Taos Pueblo, followed by a visit to Taos Gorge Bridge for photos. Have lunch at Lambert's of Taos and in the afternoon explore beautiful Taos, a longtime artist colony that also offers many galleries and museums showcasing regional artwork. Return to Santa Fe in the late afternoon. 

Day 7: Thursday, June 3rd, 2021- Santa Fe 

In the morning after breakfast at the hotel, spend the remainder of the morning immersing yourself in art during a memory painting mixed-media workshop with Lauren Mantecon. Afterwards, enjoy a free afternoon in Santa Fe taking in the sights and picking up some last minute souvenirs. 

Day 8: Friday, June 4th, 2021- Depart

If you sign up and the trip is “COVID-cancelled” your $500 check will be returned to you.  We are cautiously optimistic domestic travel will be thriving by our trip date, but we will not risk your health or safety.

Terms & Conditions

A La Carte Travel Booking Conditions

These Booking Conditions are valid for all A La Carte Travel trips departing and are subject to change with or without notice. The most current Booking Conditions at the time of your departure will apply.

Enrollment

  • All Enrollment Forms must be received at A La Carte Travel 120 days prior to departure.

  • Travelers should provide complete first, middle and last names and dates of birth as they appear (or will appear) on their passports.

  • Any corrections to match passport names made after 120 days prior to departure require that we change the flight reservation, resulting in a minimum fee of $200 per airline up to the cost of a new published fare ticket. This may also result in a different flight itinerary from the group.

  • Travelers who have not yet applied for a passport should provide their full name and date of birth as they appear on their birth certificate.

Rooming

  • A La Carte Travel handles final rooming assignments for all travelers. Please ensure that all rooming requests are submitted by 110 days prior to departure.

  • Students will room in double, triples, or quads with others of the same gender from the entire tour group.

  • Adults are placed in twin accommodations (a hotel room with two beds) with another adult of the same gender from the entire tour group unless the name of a roommate has been provided.

  • Adults can request double-bed accommodations (a room with one bed for two people)  or a single room for an additional fee per hotel.  

  •  

  • Single rooms are not available on overnight trains.

Lost Belongings

A La Carte Travel is not responsible for loss of passports, airline tickets or other documents, or for loss of or damage to luggage or any other passenger belongings. In the case of a lost paper airline ticket, the traveler is solely responsible for meeting the airline’s requirements (both logistical and financial) for ticket replacement.

Food Allergies

  • A La Carte Travel recognizes that some travelers may have severe food allergies. We will do our best to ensure that our suppliers are informed of the situation but we cannot guarantee that all requests will be accommodated.

  • Travelers are responsible for making their own arrangements for all in-flight meals.

Baggage

Excess baggage is subject to extra fees. Passengers are advised to find out about the fees on the airline’s website.

A La Carte Travel automatically insures all the passengers in the Travelex Standard Choice plan.

The travel protection plan we recommend, Travelex 360° Student Group Choice, includes coverage for Trip Cancellation and Interruption, Trip Delay, Emergency Medical Expense and Evacuation, Baggage Loss or Delay and more. 

 In addition to all of the above benefits, the Choice Plan upgrade will cover the following:

  • Trip Cancellation/interruption benefits include:  Sickness, injury, or death

  •  Pre-existing exclusion waiver through final payment

  • Common carrier cancellations/delays

  • Terrorist acts** (Occurring within 30 days of the scheduled departure date for the covered trip in your departure city or in a city which is a scheduled destination)
