U.S. Citizens

Passports need to be valid for 6 months after the final day of the program.  Please check the visiting countries for visa requirements.  There are no visas needed for Europe.  If a traveler is unable to obtain these travel documents, our standard cancellation policy will apply.

All children under the age of 18 unaccompanied by a parent or legal guardian traveling abroad must have a notarized letter of permission with a parent’s or legal guardian’s signature.

A La Carte Travel Booking Conditions

These Booking Conditions are valid for all A La Carte Travel departing after October 1, 2015, and are subject to change with or without notice. The most current Booking Conditions at the time of your departure will apply.

Enrollment

All Enrollment Forms must be received at A La Carte Travel 120 days prior to departure. Travelers should provide complete first, middle and last names and dates of birth as they appear (or will appear) on their passports.

Any corrections to match passport names made after 120 days prior to departure require that we change the flight reservation, resulting in a minimum fee of $200 per airline up to the cost of a new published fare ticket. This may also result in a different flight itinerary from the group. Travelers who have not yet applied for a passport should provide their full name and date of birth as they appear on their birth certificate.

Rooming

 A La Carte Travel handles final rooming assignments for all travelers. Please ensure that all rooming requests are submitted by 110 days prior to departure.

Students will room in double, triples, or quads with others of the same gender from the entire tour group.

Adults are placed in twin accommodations (a hotel room with two beds) with another adult of the same gender from the entire tour group unless the name of a roommate has been provided.

Adults can request double-bed accommodations (a room with one bed for two people)  or a single room for an additional fee per hotel.   Single rooms are not available on overnight trains.

Lost belongings

A La Carte Travel is not responsible for loss of passports, airline tickets or other documents, or for loss of or damage to luggage or any other passenger belongings. In the case of a lost paper airline ticket, the traveler is solely responsible for meeting the airline’s requirements (both logistical and financial) for ticket replacement.

Food Allergies

 A La Carte Travel recognizes that some travelers may have severe food allergies. We will do our best to ensure that our suppliers are informed of the situation but we cannot guarantee that all requests will be accommodated. Travelers are responsible for making their own arrangements for all in-flight meals.

Deposit and Payments

A deposit of $500 is required at the time of registration to hold the space for the passengers.  The remainder of the balance is divided into equal monthly payments with the final payment due no later than 60 days prior to departure.

Baggage

Excess baggage is subject to extra fees.

Passengers are advised to find out about the fees on the airline’s website.

Cancellation

Full refund less all non-refundable fees, and a $300 cancellation fee

45 days to 119  days prior to departure

Full refund less all non-refundable fees, $500 cancellation fee and 50% of the program price

Travel Insurance

A La Carte Travel automatically insures all the passengers in the Travelex Standard Choice plan.

The Standard Travel Protection Plan covers the following:

 

  • Emergency Medical and Dental Expenses up to $15,000

  • Emergency Evacuation & Repatriation Expenses of up to $50,000

  • Trip Delay Expenses of up to $1000

  • Lost or Delayed Baggage Expenses of up to $250

  • 24/7 travel assistance and concierge services

A  La  Carte Travel is now offering our groups a more comprehensive Travel Insurance as part of the Travel package and as part of an effort to ease the travelers’ concerns with the events around the world.

The travel protection plan we recommend, Travelex 360° Student Group Choice, includes coverage for Trip Cancellation and Interruption, Trip Delay, Emergency Medical Expense and Evacuation, Baggage Loss or Delay and more. 

 In addition to all of the above benefits, the Choice Plan upgrade will cover the following:

  • Trip Cancellation/interruption benefits include:  Sickness, injury, or death

  •  Pre-existing exclusion waiver through final payment

  • Common carrier cancellations/delays

  • Terrorist acts** (Occurring within 30 days of the scheduled departure date for the covered trip in your departure city or in a city which is a scheduled destination)

  • Trip delay benefits – 5 hours or more

  • Baggage Delay benefits – 12 hours or more

  • Cancel for any reason coverage upgrade

 

The  Cancel for Any Reason benefit, which allows you to cancel your trip for any reason, within 2 days of your Scheduled Departure Date, and receive up to 75% of the Insured Trip Cost. To be eligible for this benefit, the plan must be purchased within 21 days of your initial trip deposit and full trip cost must be insured. Standard of Conduct

 

Proper behavior is expected at all times. Remember, you are representing your country. Show respect for language and customs different than your own.

 

Grounds for Dismissal

  1. Possession, consumption, or distribution of alcohol or illegal drugs

  2. Poor attitude or behavior and consistently acting independently of the chaperones' admonishment and warnings

  3. Leaving the group on excursions, or leaving the hotels without the permission of chaperones and after the designated curfew

  4. Getting a piercing or tattoo

  5. Stealing or defacing any personal property, building or material

  6. Possession or using weapons such as firearms, knives, explosives, etc

  7. Breaking group rules

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Saturday, April 4th, 2020- Depart

Take an overnight flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Paris (CDG)

  • Air France flight 065 departs at 14:55

 

Day 2: Sunday, April 5th, 2020- Giverny- Bayeux

Arrive in Paris and meet your English-speaking tour escort at the airport. Take a private coach bus and depart for Giverny to visit the beautiful and inspirational gardens of Claude Monet. After visiting the gardens and Monet’s residence, depart with a private coach bus to Bayeux, a town in Normandy, known for being the first secured by the Allied forces during World War II. Arrive in Bayeux and check-in to your hotel. In the evening, have dinner and spend overnight in Bayeux.

 

Day 3: Monday, April 6th, 2020- Excursion to D-Day Beaches

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before taking a private coach bus to visit the D-Day Beaches and Landings, where the Allied troops began their journey to liberate Europe from years of German military occupation. There, visit the Arromanches 360 Circular Cinema to learn about the Battle of Normandy and see archived footage of the D-Day Landings. Visit the American Cemetery that honors American troops who died in Europe during World War II. Afterward, visit Sainte-Mère-Église, home to the Airborne Museum, dedicated to the memory of paratroopers in the United States Army who parachuted into Normandy in June 1944. This day will surely work up an appetite, so unwind with a cooking class demo where you can taste the local food! Have dinner and spend overnight in Bayeux.

 

Day 4: Tuesday, April 7th, 2020- Mont St. Michel- Saint-Malo

Eat breakfast at the hotel then take a private coach bus to Mont-Saint-Michel, an island and mainland off of Normandy. Visit the ancient fortifications on the island, including the Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey, an essential portion of the main fortification and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterwards, continue to Saint-Malo, a historic port off of Brittany known for its long history of piracy, local extortion and overseas adventures! Spend the afternoon exploring Saint-Malo with your tour escort. Have free time for sightseeing and shopping for souvenirs. In the evening, have dinner and spend overnight in Saint-Malo.

 

Day 5: Wednesday, April 8th, 2020- Saint-Malo

After breakfast at the hotel, take a guided tour of Saint-Malo to learn more about the town, including the tall granite walls that surround the town and the history of the French corsaires, pirates commissioned by the king! Take a private coach bus to visit the town of Cancale, a picturesque fishing port near Saint-Malo. There, reward your taste buds by visiting La Maison Guella, known for its cookies and candies! Return to Saint-Malo and visit the Étoile Marine, the ship on the Étoile du Roy docks and learn more about the world of the corsaires! Arrrrrr! Continue your exploration of the corsaires by visiting a Demeure de Corsaire and having a guided visit of the residences of pirateers! In the afternoon, visit the house of Jacques Cartier, the explorer known for navigating his way and discovering Montreal! In the evening, have dinner and spend overnight in Saint-Malo.

 

Day 6: Thursday, April 9th, 2020- Saint-Malo- Paris

In the morning after breakfast, transfer with a private coach bus to the train station. Take the train from Saint-Malo to Paris. Arrive in Paris and transfer to your hotel with a private coach bus. Then, take the same coach to Musée d’Orsay which houses the largest collection of impressionist and post-impressionist art in the world! From there, walk to the Eiffel Tower, easily the most notable landmark in the world, and a prime location for pictures! In the evening, eat dinner on a Bateaux Parisien and enjoy a night time cruise on the Seine to see the well-lit landmarks of Paris. Return to your hotel with a private coach and spend overnight in Paris.

 

Day 7: Friday, April 10th, 2020- Paris

Have breakfast at your hotel then take a private coach bus to Vaux-le-Vicomte to visit the famous château built in the 1600’s! Have a picnic lunch in the gardens of the château before returning to Paris. In Paris, spend the afternoon taking in the famous sights, both by coach and on foot! Visit the famous pyramids of the Louvre. Walk through Île de la Cité to see the outer face of the Notre Dame. Explore the posh neighborhoods of Quartier Saint Germain and the beautiful promenades through Jardin du Luxembourg. Spend time shopping in Quartier Latin for souvenirs and arrive in the evening at Rue Mouffetard for a traditional raclette dinner. Afterwards, take your private coach bus back to your hotel- but on the way: stop at the Champs Elysées, the grand avenue in Paris lined with shops, cafés and street performers! Walk up the avenue to see the Arc de Triomphe before returning to your hotel for overnight in Paris.

 

Day 8: Saturday, April 11th, 2020- Depart

In the morning, enjoy your final French breakfast. Then, take a private coach bus to the airport for your flight home.
