Split your time in Germany between a German host family and touring Germany and
Austria. The objective of the program is for participants to learn about the culture and daily
life of the host country through their host family, whether it be on family outings,
get-togethers or just hanging out at home.

Home Stay Accommodations and Meals

The home stay will be in Munich, the most historic, artistic , and entertaining city in
Germany. Spend seven days with your gracious hosts to improve your knowledge of the
German language. culture, and family life.

Excursions
During the course of the stay there will be a three excursions:

1) Take a tour of Munich. Walk through Alstadt, the historic part of Munich and the site
of the original medieval city. Continue to
Marienplatz with its Rathaus and its
Glockenspiel
performance. Next visit the Olympia Park, the site of the 1972 Olympics.
Visit
Odeonsplatz, Munich's most beautiful square, with the Royal Palace, Residenz,
just to the east and the
Theatinerkirche, Munich's finest example of Italian baroque to its
south. In the late afternoon take a trip to the
Dachau concentration camps.

2) Take a day trip on train to the Bavarian Alps to visit the fairytale castle of
Neuschwanstein
in Fússen, built by order of Bavaria's King Ludwig II, referred to as "Mad
Ludwig". This is the castle that gave Walt Disney the idea for the castles he recreated in
his motion pictures as well as at Disneyland.

3) Take the train to Rothenburg, the best-preserved medieval city in Europe. It is one of
the few walled towns left in Europe with some of its walls dating back to the 14th century.

4 )Take the train to Augsburg, the Romantic Road's largest town. Tour of Augsburg
includes
Fuggerei, Europe's oldest welfare housing established in the 16th century, and
the
Rathaus.

Salzburg
At the end of your trip thank your host families and leave Munich toward Vienna, Austria.
Stop in Salzburg, a city with many epithets: Festival city, Residence city, University City,
spa and Congress city, the city that is forever smiling to the tunes of Mozart and The
Sound of Music. Tour this charmingly preserved town with splendid gardens, Baroque
churches, and Europe's largest intact medieval fortress. Tour the house of Mozart and the
fortress. Continue your trip on train to Vienna.

Vienna
On your last day visit Vienna, the capital of Austria and the city that was home to Brahms,
Freud, and the Strauss family. Explore some of Vienna's many famous parks that are filled
with monuments, such as the Stadtpark and Belvedere Park with its baroque-style castle.
